Creating Significant Learning ENVIRONMENTS

5313: CSLE - Creating Significant Learning Environments

Throughout the Applied Digital Learning Program, I have been given the opportunity to explore the meaning of significant learning environments. This immersive experience has prompted me to critically examine the conventional classroom models in contrast to the emergence of a new culture of learning. Moreover, I have delved into the specifics of curriculum design, utilizing the frameworks of Understanding by Design (UbD) and Fink's 3-Column Table. And finally, this enriching journey has led me to shape and refine my own personal learning philosophy.

Overall, this focus on learning and creating significant learning environments has greatly impacted and influenced my innovation plan. I now have the knowledge and ability to provide my teachers with the framework necessary to create blended learning environments that will transform their classrooms from teacher-centered to student-centered.

A New Culture of

LEARNING

A New Culture of Learning has made a significant impact on who I am as an educator and has allowed me to explain with confidence the difference between the two cultures of teaching: the Traditional Model of Teaching and a New Culture of Learning.

Creating My

LEARNING PHILOSOPHY

Through creating my learning philosophy, I had the opportunity to reflect on who I am as a learner, understand the differences between learning and teaching philosophies, and discover multiple learning theories.

BIG, HAIRY, AUDACIOUS GOALS can be achieved, especially when utilizing Fink's self-directed guide to designing courses for significant learning environments. Take a look at how I intend to achieve my BHAG.

Understanding by

DESIGN

When creating the sessions for my Innovation Plan, I utilized the Understanding by Design (UbD) unit plan template. The details in this template made the course more tangible and instilled the confidence to implement it.
